Getting to and from Umeå

The easiest way to go to Umeå is by flying. There are many flights from Stockholm Arlanda airport (with SAS, Norwegian) and Stockholm Bromma Airport (Malmö Aviation). In addition to that Umeå can also be reached with direct flights from Gothenburg (City Airlines) and the Baltic (Baltic Airlines). Another alternative to get here is by train; there are overnight trains (SJ) from Gothenburg and Stockholm with arrival early in the morning in Umeå. The airport is situated about 4 km from the university, with frequent buses both to and from downtown and university campus (50 SEK). Taxi takes about 10 mn and costs ca 130 SEK. City buses

From city centre (Vasaplan) and university campus there are many buses every hour. A single fare ticket is 23 SEK. (no cash payment on buses – payment with pre-paid ticket, credit card or by SMS).
